Our limited warranty, explained

The Simply Reglaze Refinishing Warranty

Two years on bathtubs, showers, tile and countertops, six months on kitchen sinks: what is covered, what is not, and how to claim, in plain English.

Plain English

What our refinishing warranty promises

Every refinishing job (also called reglazing or resurfacing) carries a written limited warranty: two years on bathtubs, showers and pans, tile walls, countertops and bathroom sinks, six months on kitchen sinks. It covers peeling, blistering, flaking or coating separation caused by a workmanship defect.

This page is the readable version. The binding wording is the limited warranty section of our service terms and policies; if anything here appears to differ, the terms page governs. Most of the exclusions are easy to avoid once you know them.

It is part of the price wherever we work, from Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties to San Francisco, Marin, Alameda, Contra Costa, San Mateo and Santa Clara. Comparing refinishing companies near you? Ask each for its warranty in writing.

The useful part

Covered vs. not covered

The warranty covers defects in our workmanship, not damage done afterwards or problems in the fixture underneath. Condensed from the published exclusions:

CoveredNot covered
Peeling caused by a workmanship defectEveryday use: normal wear, gradual dulling, scuffing, staining or yellowing; abuse, neglect, weather or accidents; blistering or caulk separation from direct heat; cosmetic variation from conditions at application.
Blistering caused by a workmanship defectChemicals and dyes: hair dye and tinted liquids left on the surface; bleach, chlorine, drain openers, acids, solvents, rust removers; abrasive cleansers, scouring powders, steel wool, scrub pads or any unapproved product.
Flaking caused by a workmanship defectImpact and cuts: chips, gouges, cracks or breakage from dropped or heavy objects; scratches and knife marks; dragging appliances across the surface; chips and nips on sinks.
Coating separation caused by a workmanship defectMats and adhesives: suction-cup bath mats; adhesive non-slip strips, stickers or decals; any mat left in place between uses.
Inspection and repair when reported within 15 daysWater and underlying conditions: standing water, hard-water deposits, not drying the surface; intrusion from failed grout, caulk, leaks or plumbing; moisture wicking up through an older tile shower base; rot, movement or a failing subfloor.
Coverage in homes, rentals, hotels and commercial properties alikeWork by others: any surface recoated or altered by anyone other than Simply Reglaze; damage by other trades working in the area afterwards.

Exact wording: full limited warranty.

Almost everything in the right-hand column is a care habit; our care and cleaning guide covers the routine, and how long refinishing lasts covers the years it buys you. The exception is the older tile shower: if our inspection finds that moisture from behind or beneath the tile lifted the coating, that is a condition of the shower rather than our workmanship, and coverage on that area may be reduced or voided. We always inspect and explain first.

Conditions and eligibility

  • Original customer only; not transferable. Extended solely to the person or entity that contracted and paid for the work, at that address; it does not transfer to a later owner or tenant and cannot be assigned.
  • Properties listed for sale. No coverage on work at a property listed, marketed or being prepared for sale at the time of service, or listed within 90 days afterward; that is cosmetic preparation for resale, done on a no-warranty basis (see our page for home sellers).
  • Payment in full. An unpaid or partially paid invoice voids the warranty, as does payment not received within 7 days of completion.
  • Scope. Only the contracted surfaces; not adjacent surfaces, fixtures, hardware, grout, caulk or plumbing.
  • Reporting. Report a defect within 15 days of occurrence or the warranty is void. A repair does not restart or extend the term.
  • Spot repairs and color match. No guaranteed match in color, sheen or texture between a repaired area and the surrounding finish; refinishing the whole surface for uniformity is chargeable.
  • Remedy. Repairing the affected area or, at our discretion, refinishing it; liability is limited per Section 7 of our terms of service.
  • Care instructions. Follow the instructions we provide (linked from the aftercare section); not doing so may void the warranty.
Special case

Rust: best effort, no warranty

Once rusting begins it cannot be stopped; resurfacing can extend the life of a tub but is not a guaranteed fix in the long run. Tubs with rusted-through holes or rust from underneath should be replaced, and we will say so. Rust treatment and repair are performed on a best-effort basis and carry no warranty: rust that returns, spreads or reappears through the coating is not a workmanship defect and is not covered, regardless of the warranty period on the rest of your project. Call us as soon as it returns so it can be treated early.

Warranty FAQ

Questions about the refinishing warranty

Two years on bathtubs, showers (including floors and pans), tile walls, countertops, and bathroom and vanity sinks; six months on kitchen sinks. The same terms apply to homes, rentals, hotels and commercial properties.

Peeling, blistering, flaking or coating separation on the reglazed area caused by a workmanship defect. Report it within 15 days and we inspect and perform the necessary repairs.

Call or text 1 (855) 450-5335, or message us through our contact page, within 15 days of noticing the problem, with the address and a description of the affected area. We inspect, explain what we find and repair a covered defect.

No. It is extended solely to the person or entity that contracted and paid for the work, at that address, and cannot be assigned. Work at a property listed or being prepared for sale, or listed within 90 days afterward, is done on a no-warranty basis.

Yes, and the common ways are avoidable: not paying in full within 7 days, water on the surface during the 48-hour cure, abrasive or harsh cleaners, a mat left in the tub, or anyone else recoating the surface. Follow the aftercare instructions and coverage stays intact.
