How to read a before & after composite
Each composite carries the Simply Reglaze mark in the corner and two labeled frames. On most images the Before frame sits on top and the After frame below; on tall subjects such as shower stalls, wall tile and pedestal sinks the two frames sit side by side, Before on the left. Both frames show the same fixture in the same room, shot from as close to the same angle as the space allowed.
The Before frames show the reasons people call us. Bathtub floors where the old finish has worn or peeled through to the dark base underneath. Rust rings and pitting around sink drains. Mineral and soap-scum staining on shower pans. Grout lines that have gone gray or black on tile counters, floors and walls. Chips on sink rims and tub edges. And plenty of colors from earlier decades: pink, almond, teal, tan and dark brown fixtures that no longer match anything else in the room.
The After frames show one continuous surface. Chips and worn spots are filled flat before the coating goes on, so they disappear rather than show through. On tile, the grout lines are sealed under the finish; you can still see the pattern, but the surface is smooth and wipeable. Most customers choose white, which is why nearly every After frame is white; the color-change gallery shows the exceptions.
Several After photos were taken the moment the final coat went on, so you will see masking paper, painter's tape and drop cloths still in place around counters and tubs. That is the last look before the fixture is left to cure. Nothing is staged, and nothing is retouched beyond adding the labels.
The one-day process behind every After frame
Every fixture in this gallery went through the same five steps, usually in a single visit of about four hours for a standard bathtub.
- 01Inspect & clean~30 minWe inspect the fixture and deep-clean the surface to remove soap scum, body oils and residue.
- 02Acid wash~20 minAn acid wash strips and opens up the surface so the new coating can bond permanently.
- 03Surface refinishing~90 minChips, cracks and worn spots are filled and repaired; the entire surface is sanded and prepped; a final deep wash removes every trace of dust.
- 04Prime coating~30 minA bonding primer is applied as the foundation for a durable, lasting finish.
- 05Reglaze~60 minMultiple coats of commercial-grade coating are sprayed on for a smooth, glossy, like-new finish.
Most fixtures are ready to use about 24 hours later, once the coating has cured. Repairs beyond normal wear are quoted before work begins, and bathtubs and showers carry our 2-year warranty. Each section below links to the matching service page.
Bathtubs
Standard alcove tubs, mostly with worn-through floors and stained basins; the surrounding tile was masked and left untouched.
Bathtub & Walls
Tub and surround refinished together as one white unit, including fiberglass units and tile surrounds in dated colors.
Jacuzzi Tub
Oversized corner and garden tubs. The jets, deck and plumbing stay in place; only the basin surface is refinished.
Showers
Tile showers and one-piece fiberglass stalls, with walls, seat and pan refinished together.
Shower Pan
Shower floors refinished on their own: textured pans with worn, stained floors brought back to a smooth white surface.
Sinks
Kitchen double bowls, farmhouse, vanity and pedestal sinks. Rust rings at the drain and chipped rims are the usual Before.
Countertops
Tile counters with darkened grout, laminate and cultured-marble vanities and kitchen islands, most finished in white.
Tile Floors
Bathroom floor tile refinished in place, grout lines sealed under the coating.
Tile Walls
Bathroom and shower wall tile refinished in place.
Colors
Fixtures recolored rather than simply renewed, including a dark tile shower turned white with a black accent band.
